President Xi Jinping Arrives in Jakarta for State Visit to Indonesia

On 2 October 2013, President Xi Jinping arrived in Jakarta, starting a state visit to Indonesia.

Around 13:50 local time, Xi Jinping's special plane arrived at Jakarta Halim Airport. Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan were welcomed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and Mrs. Natalegawa, Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan and Mrs. Wirjawan, and others.

Xi Jinping conveyed the cordial greetings and good wishes from the Chinese people to the Indonesia people. Xi Jinping stressed that China and Indonesia are both important big developing countries. Strengthening strategic cooperation is conducive to the fundamental interest of the two countries and of the two peoples. It is also in line with the historical trend of self-improvement through unity among developing nations and is helpful for peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world. I am looking forward to exchanging in-depth views with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest, to plan for future cooperation and to promote common development.

Other delegation members including Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu and Yang Jiechi arrived by the same plane.

Liu Jianchao, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia also received the delegation at the airport.

Following the visit to Indonesia, Xi Jinping will also pay a state visit to Malaysia. Soon afterwards, he will attend the 21st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held in Bali Island, Indonesia.
