On July 11, the 2026 New Zealand Chinese Business Awards and the Launch Dinner for the South Island Office of the New Zealand Chinese Business Club (NZCBC) was held in Christchurch. The event was attended by Consul-General He Ying, New Zealand's Minister for Mental Health Hon Matt Doocey, representatives of Members of Parliament from both the National and Labour parties, former Speaker of Parliament and National Patron of the New Zealand China Friendship Society Sir David Carter, Chairperson of the NZCBC Dr. Jian Yang, and over 100 distinguished guests.

Consul-General He Ying warmly congratulated the establishment of the South Island Office. She noted that China remains New Zealand's largest trading partner, and in recent years, bilateral relations have continued to strengthen with deepening mutual political trust and steadily expanding economic and trade cooperation. She expressed her expectations for the NZCBC to fully leverage its role as a bridge and bond to further promote economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and New Zealand. She also encouraged Chinese businesses and entrepreneurs in the South Island to seize emerging opportunities, forge ahead, and make greater contributions to deepening practical cooperation across various fields between the two nations.

During the event, the South Island Office of the NZCBC was officially inaugurated, and attending guests jointly launched the 2026 NZCBC Business Awards.
